Praise Makers | 6:00 – 6:30 pm | Ages 4/5 (Rm. 148)
In Praise Makers, children learn to praise God and express love for the Lord through music while becoming tuneful, beautiful, artful, and eventually musically literate. Instruction includes singing, music games, instruments, beginning notational literacy, expressive movement, dramatic play, and other developmentally appropriate music activities. Children in Praise Makers sing in worship twice a year (or more, if individual children feel comfortable). Praise Makers also participates in the Spring Concert on Mother’s Day.
Training Choir | 6:00 – 6:30 pm | 1st/2nd Grade (Rm. 144)
In Training Choir, children focus on the foundations of choral singing. Through engaging rehearsal techniques, children will have fun developing their voices and learning developmentally appropriate sacred repertoire. Participants in Training Choir will practice beautiful choral tone, singing in unison, beginning music literacy, and will deepen their understanding of the importance of music in the Christian life as taught in Scripture. Training Choir sings in worship several times a year. Training Choir also participates in the Spring Concert on Mother’s Day.
IGNITE Handbells | 6:00 – 6:30 pm | 3rd–12th Grade (Music Suite/Bell Room)
In IGNITE, children praise and worship God through the art of handbell ringing, building cooperation and music literacy skills. All handbell techniques are explored while ringing a variety of musical genres: hymns, classical pieces, gospel, jazz, and dramatic arrangements of beloved Bible stories. IGNITE plays in Proclamation’s worship service several times a year, in the surrounding community, and in the Spring Concert on Mother’s Day.
Hymnody | 6:35 – 7:00 pm | Ages 4/5 (Rm. 148) and 1st/2nd Grade (Rm. 147)
In Hymnody, young children will actively dig into hymn texts and tunes of the faith and begin to read hymns from music notation. We will seek to memorize a new hymn together each month, in the hopes that the word of Christ will dwell richly in our hearts as a church body.
Covenant Choir | 6:35 – 7:15 pm | 3rd–8th Grade, treble voices (Rm. 144)
In Covenant Choir, children learn choral techniques and sing sacred repertoire in Sunday worship monthly. Participants in Covenant Choir will practice beautiful choral tone and diction, singing in unison and in harmony, develop music literacy skills, seek to understand and memorize a hymn each month, and will deepen their understanding of the importance of music in the Christian life as taught in Scripture. Covenant Choir sings in Proclamation’s worship service approximately once per month from October through May, in the surrounding community, and in the Spring Concert on Mother’s Day.
